SDRPY Launches Development Projects Worth More than SR1.2 Billion in Hadramout

Under the patronage of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and in the presence of the Assistant Supervisor General of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), Eng. Hassan Al-Attas, and Governor Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi of Hadramout Governorate, the SDRPY launched a comprehensive package of 20 projects and vital development programs in Hadramout. These projects, valued at over SR1.2 billion, were provided by the Kingdom under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The launch ceremony included the laying of the foundation stone for several projects, such as the establishment and equipping of a university hospital and cancer centre at Hadramout University. This project aims to provide advanced healthcare to citizens and create a suitable environment for training health practitioners at the university, while also supporting scientific research and development. Additionally, the SDRPY launched projects to establish a gas separation and treatment plant, as well as a power plant in Seiyun to increase the power station's production capacity to 100 megawatts.

Other projects unveiled during the ceremony included the first phase of the Mukalla new ring road, the rehabilitation of the Al-Wadiah Border Crossing, various educational and technical facility projects, the enhancement of water resources in the governorate, the rehabilitation of the city of Shibam, the protection of historical libraries, and an economic empowerment project to support food supply chains.

The SDRPY has been actively involved in implementing various projects in Hadramout across different sectors. Noteworthy initiatives include enhancing the efficiency of the fish sector through the provision of motorized fishing boats, improving emergency capacity with the provision of medically equipped ambulances, and enhancing water transportation with the supply of water transport tanks. The program has also equipped Seiyun General Hospital with advanced medical equipment and provided the governorate with 367,000 metric tons of oil derivatives.
In addition to projects within Hadramout, the Kingdom, through the SDRPY, has undertaken significant development projects and initiatives in neighboring governorates. One of these initiatives is the King Salman Educational and Medical City Project, which serves the health and education sectors in Al-Mahra and benefits the citizens of Hadramout. The program has also established a dialysis centre and operations and intensive care centre in Al-Ghaydah Hospital, providing medical services to beneficiaries from various governorates.
The SDRPY's projects and initiatives have made a positive impact on various aspects of life, daily services, and economic development in Yemen. The program has contributed to the preservation of Yemeni heritage by supporting the restoration of the Sayun Palace. Furthermore, the SDRPY has implemented projects to improve the quality of life using renewable energy, such as the rehabilitation of wells and the provision of drinking water systems, agricultural irrigation systems, and renewable energy for educational, health, and residential facilities.
The transportation sector has also received attention through projects like the expansion and rehabilitation of the Al-Abr Road, which aims to enhance road safety and facilitate travel between cities. Additionally, the SDRPY has constructed and equipped model schools in Seiyun and Mukalla, providing modern educational facilities and opportunities for male and female students.

The SDRPY's initiatives have extended support to the fisheries sector by providing motorized fishing boats and have bolstered emergency capacity by supplying ambulances and water trucks. Through its efforts, the program has played a crucial role in improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development in Yemen.
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen continues to demonstrate its commitment to the well-being of the Yemeni people, implementing a wide range of projects and initiatives across various sectors to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis and improve living conditions in the country.
