Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen Bolsters Healthcare Sector in Yemen.
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has significantly enhanced Yemen's healthcare system. The Kingdom aims to achieve sustainable healthcare sector development by implementing numerous projects and initiatives.
Key projects include the construction and equipping of hospitals and medical centers, as well as the training of healthcare professionals. The King Salman Medical and Educational City in Al-Mahrah Governorate is a prime example, offering a 110-bed hospital, outpatient clinics, and operating rooms within a one million square meter complex.
The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden, with a 270-bed capacity, 14 specialized clinics, and a heart center, provided over 1.3 million medical consultations, 8,700 surgeries, and 440 heart operations from January 2023 to June 2024.
To address specific needs, projects such as the Taiz Cancer Treatment Center, the Hadramout University Hospital and Cancer Treatment Center, and the Aden Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children have been established. Additionally, the Al-Mahra Kidney Dialysis Center and the Operations and Intensive Care Center have been implemented to improve care for patients with kidney disease.
The program has also upgraded existing facilities, including Marib General Authority Hospital, the 26th of September Hospital in Marib, and the Aden General Hospital.
These initiatives have collectively impacted 4,486,847 beneficiaries and supported 26 medical facilities across nine Yemeni governorates, demonstrating the Kingdom's commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Yemeni people.
